A shirt that features the words “Love letter to Science” is now available at the Smithsonian.
The Smithsonian’s Science Museum’s flagship museum, in Washington, D.C., has launched a limited-edition line of shirts featuring a shirt that reads “Love Letter to Science,” according to a statement from the museum.
“It was important for us to do something to acknowledge our scientific heritage, and we thought the perfect shirt would be an homage to our collection of science-related artifacts,” said Smithsonian spokesperson Emily Browning.
“These shirts are not meant to be worn by the general public, but rather by scientists, scientists in particular, who are the ones who are inspired to make discoveries by our collection.”
“Science-themed shirts are always a good idea, especially when it comes to commemorating science-themed holidays,” Browning added.
“We are proud to share the Smithsonian with our fans and will continue to share science-centric content.”
“We’re honored to be featured in a limited edition of our shirts, but not necessarily to wear them to a museum,” she added.
The shirts will be available starting Friday, April 8, at the Museum’s gift shop and at the museum’s gift department starting on May 1.
“The shirts were created by two students at Harvard University, and they wanted to do the right thing and celebrate science through art,” Brownings said.
“It’s a beautiful way to honor our collections and our history.
It also honors the Smithsonian and the American Science Museum in general.”
The shirts have been featured in Smithsonian magazine.
They are currently being sold through the museum gift shop.
